Introduction to Health and Science

Course Description

This course is ideal if one or more of the following applies to you:

  • You have an interest in health and/or science but you have little or limited knowledge of physics, chemistry or biology

  • You have studied health and/or science but need a refresher

  • You are interested in health and/or science but you are not yet ready to commit to a full time or longer term course

  • You want to study without the pressure of formal assessment

  • You want to learn about the different career options in health and science

  • You want to know your current academic level and the route you would need to take to study a science or health related course at university

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements

Method of Assessment

Learning will be monitored through the use of tasks and observation. Assessment of learning will be ongoing through your Individual Learning Plan (ILP). You will have the opportunity to take English, maths and I.T tests. These tests will help you to understand your current academic skills.

Progression

Your next step will depend on previous learning and your current skill levels. You may need to start by strengthening your core English, maths or IT skills at Entry level or Level 1. Alternatively, you may be ready for Level 2 study e.g. GCSEs; Pre-Access or even an Access Diploma (Level 3).

Notes

The course will include a museum visit and a chance to experience Kingston University's state-of the-art mobile laboratory complete with robots and virtual reality headsets.

To apply for this course you will need to complete the Application form for each course you wish to attend, there is space for up to 3 courses per form.

The Information Form only needs to be completed once each academic year, if you have not completed one for this year, you will need to complete this also.

You can either print the forms once completed, sign and return by post or email the forms direct to the college at enquiry@hillcroft.ac.uk.
