Course Description

No previous experience required for this course which will prepare you for a career as a beauty massage therapist. You will learn how to provide body massage along with gaining an understanding of anatomy and physiology, client care and health and safety. You will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to provide relaxing massage treatments using classical Swedish massage movements. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients. The level 3 course is suitable for women with good levels of literacy and numeracy which will be assessed at our friendly informal assessment day in April. Fees for this course can be covered by an Advanced Learning Loan.

Entry Requirements

All candidates will need to demonstrate good levels of spoken and written English skills (level 2). Book to attend our assessment day on 19th April and we can check your suitability for the course.

Method of Assessment

You will be assessed in a variety of ways including:

  • Practical observation/assessments

  • Online exams

  • Written assignments You will keep a portfolio of evidence of all the work you do for external moderation.

Progression

This qualification will prepare you for employment as a beauty massage therapist. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a beauty massage therapist. Career opportunities exist in a variety of contexts, including: - Working in commercial beauty salons - Working in a destination and day spas - Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings

Notes

This course will be run over 2½ days (Weds - Thurs - Fri) for 9 weeks between April 2017 and June 2017. Assessment and interview days will take place from February 2017. All applicants will need to apply for an advanced learning loan to cover the course fees. Students may also be eligible for a residential bursary to cover travel, childcare, accommodation and food.

The Information Form only needs to be completed once each academic year, if you have not completed one for this year, you will need to complete this also.
