Course Description

The Pre-Access course will introduce learners to academic reading and subjects which will be delivered on the level 3 course. It will provide learners with a foundation in terms of knowledge, skills and understanding in a range of subjects including psychology, sociology, diet & nutrition plus an extended project. GCSE English and GCSE/Functional Skills maths are also an integral part of the course. This course will provide an excellent grounding in academic writing, as well as further enhancing your study skills.


Course runs from 26 Sep 2016 to 7 Jun 2017


Level 2 Certificate in Preparing for Further Study in Health, Social Care and Social Work.

Entry Requirements

The Pre-Access course is specifically designed for students who do not yet have a full level 2 qualification or GCSE English grade A - C and who wish to progress to university through an Access to HE Diploma route.

You are required to demonstrate that you are working very well in English at level 1 or above, through a GCSE English certificate and/or an English assessment.

Access to HE Diploma (Level 3)

Please note: The completion of the Pre-Access programme does not guarantee that you will be able to progress directly onto an Access to HE programme. All Access to HE courses no longer provide any specific GCSE English & maths equivalency recognition. Please be aware that many universities now require GCSE grade A-C in English and maths, as part of any offer of a place for many degrees.


The course runs 3 days a week - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

The Information Form only needs to be completed once each academic year, if you have not completed one for this year, you will need to complete this also.
