Course Description

Part 1: About You 8th - 9th Jan 2018 Looking at your personal skills and targets.

Part 2: Applying for work 15th - 16th Jan 2018 Preparing a personal profile and writing a covering letter.

Part 3: Work - life Balance 22nd - 23rd Jan 2018 Describing work, study and the skills needed.

Part 4: Changes 29th - 30th Jan 2018 Describing past events, including past jobs and work experience.

Part 5: Future plans and looking for Work 5th - 6th Feb 2018 Where to look for work. How to write and talk about future plans.

Part 6: Applying for Work 19th - 20th Feb 2018 Preparing a CV and a covering letter.

Part 7: Job Interviews 26th - 27th Feb 2018 Interview skills and preparing answers to interview questions.

Part 8: Equal Opportunities 5th - 6th Mar 2018 Looking at your rights at work. Visit to the Houses of Parliament.

Dates

Course runs from 8 Jan 2018 to 6 Mar 2018

Qualification

You will have the opportunity to take the English Speaking Board (ESB) reading and writing exams.

Entry Requirements

These courses are for women who already have Entry 2 ESOL skills in most areas and who want to progress to Entry 3 and Level 1.

Method of Assessment

Learning will be monitored through the use of tasks and observation. Assessment of learning will be ongoing through your Individual Learning Plan (ILP).

Progression

You will progress to the ESOL Preparation for Study or you may want to attend other courses such as English, maths and ICT.

Notes

This course has 8 parts and you will need to attend for 2 days every week. To support your studies between each part you can use our Learning Resource Centre and our online resources from home.

Course Application and Support Forms:

To apply for this course you will need to complete the Application form for each course you wish to attend, there is space for up to 3 courses per form.

The Information Form only needs to be completed once each academic year, if you have not completed one for this year, you will need to complete this also.

You can either print the forms once completed, sign and return by post or email the forms direct to the college at enquiry@hillcroft.ac.uk.

(You will be required to sign the forms when you attend the college)
