Introduction to Pre Access

Course Description

The Introduction to Pre-Access course will provide learners with the opportunity to develop and enhance their learning skills including note taking and referencing. English, maths and ICT are integral to the course. You will also be required to work as part of a group to complete a project. This course will provide an excellent grounding in study skills, in preparation for the Pre-Access Level 2 course.


Course runs from 18 Sep 2017 to 13 Dec 2017



Entry Requirements

This course is for those wishing to progress to Pre-Access.

You are required to demonstrate that you are working very well in English at level 1 or above, through a FS/GCSE English certificate and/or an English assessment.

Method of Assessment

On this course, your achievements will be assessed through your individual learning plan. You will be assessed using the following methods:

  • Research skills

  • Written assignments

  • Collaboration: group and pair work

  • Presentations


Pre-Access - including GCSE English & Functional Skills Maths

Please note: The completion of the Introduction to Pre-Access programme does not guarantee that you will be able to progress directly onto Pre-Access.

To apply for this course you will need to complete the Application form for each course you wish to attend, there is space for up to 3 courses per form.

The Information Form only needs to be completed once each academic year, if you have not completed one for this year, you will need to complete this also.
