Joining the Governing Council

If you are interested to join the Council you can expect a time commitment of perhaps 50 to 60 hours a year – reading papers and attending meetings, as well as visiting the college to stay familiar with its work and to know its strengths and weaknesses. Positions as a governor are voluntary and unremunerated, but you are entitled to claim travel and subsistence expenses.

As the only women’s adult residential college in the UK, Hillcroft College is truly unique. Its principal aim is to enable women to change their lives and fulfil their potential through learning. Emphasis is placed on women gaining transferable skills which can be applied to further learning and improving employability.

Candidates should ideally have a business or professional background with either experience in or an understanding of adult education and be able to demonstrate good leadership and team-working skills. If you would like to contribute to making a positive difference to women’s lives, then we would love to hear from you.

How to apply: Contact Heather Cross, the Clerk to the Council by email at heathercross@hillcroft.ac.uk

Hillcroft College is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from men and women. It is exempt from the Sex Discrimination Act in the recruitment of women students only.
